Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Very good, was very stressed and worried about debt, being hounded by creditors at all hours of day and night and now have peaceful life again. Made mistake of taking loans I couldn't pay back and spiralled into more and more debt and the loan companies were very insistent on pressuring me to come up with money I did not have. Followed a cancer diagnosis and lots of time off work with only statutory sick pay I got into a lot of debt to the point it made me ill. Step change were helpful, understanding and didn't judge me. They helped me set up a payment plan to clear my debts and dealt with my debt companies. I can't recommend them enough. Reviewed on: 31st May 2026

Being with step change changed myself and my family...

Being with step change changed myself and my family day to day life, was able to move on and pay all my house hold bills especially my mortgage, to be to keep a roof over my family’s head, also to be able to sleep at night, which was making me very poorly.
