I was in debt

I was in debt with what I thought was nowhere to turn and then I found Step Change. I discussed my debt problems with them and I was given new hope that everything will be sorted. It has taken a few years but I will be debt free in 2 months thanks to the advice and guidance given by Step Change. Reviewed on: 9th May 2026

Worry Free

From the start they were supportive, helped me

From the start they were supportive, helped me set up my DMP - Debt Management Plan, i didn't feel judged. i was so embarrassed of the mess i had got into, but they helped me work through it and contacted the companies i owed money too. I got a cooling off period so i couldn't be contacted - i was able to breathe again. i will be paying back for a few years yet, but i do have an end date and i feel more in control and able to budget properly to prevent me from getting into debt again in the future. they regular update my DMP and if there are any changes, such as reduce hours at work or anything, they quickly and easily adjust my budget with me to make sure its affordable.
