Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Took the stress out of handling my debt

Took the stress out of handling my debt into one simple payment, they took care of everything else, and the monthly statements online are great to see the debt gradually decreasing - such an easy thing to do should have done it ages ago. No more threatening letters or emails - really takes the pressure off. They take all incoming/outgoing expenditure into account and leave you with a easily met monthly direct debit but still leaves you enough to live on Reviewed on: 29th May 2026

Dealing with debt can feel completely overwhelming, but their team stepped in and immediately liaised with all my creditors promptly and efficiently. We have had a debt manage plan in place for some time and StepChange has been a godsend in helping us manage our finances better. Whilst we still have some debt it is significantly less than what we had and with their help we have not added to that debt. Reviewed on: 29th May 2026

.Help and support when you really need it

When I contacted StepChange I was drowning. I saw no way out of my situation. I was given non judgemental, practical advise. They helped be set up a budget and made me realise there actually was a solution to my financial problem. Contacting StepChange was the best decision I ever made.
