Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I have been mostly very happy with the service I have had. They certainly helped me get out of a great big hole I had dug for myself.! They have also been very discreet which has been invaluable as no one else has been aware of my problem. The only thing that I have been a bit concerned about is the fact that I have had notifications from a couple of companies that have informed me that I still owe them money. I have explained that Step Change had dealt with all of that and that my file has been closed by them but they are still sending me letters so I will be offering to pay them off a bit at a time. I needed to handle the debt.

I have been with stepchange for 6 years and they helped me at my most vulnerable time, treated me with dignity and respect and helped me get back on track. Absolute heroes

StepChange have literally been my knights in shining armor. I was in a bad place after maxing credit cards and store cards paying minimum payments on everything. I recently had a child and this added to the pressure on my finances. I was burying my head in the sand trying to juggle everything alone before I finally had to reach out for help. They have helped me take the stress sout of juggling multiple companies, 1 point of contact has made things far less stressful. Also getting all interest stopped on my account with their help has been incredible. They have helped me manage my debts and I am nearly debt free.
