Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

I came to step change in a lot of debt and afraid of my shadow and bailiffs. The compassion, service and advice I received was nothing short of outstanding. They truly understood my situation and genuinely wanted to help me resolve my debts. I have nothing but praise for them and the services they provide. StepChange help just when you need it

Following a scam whereby I thought I was lending a large sum of money to charity I found myself owing money to banks and credit card companies. At age 81 I had never been in debt before and found the situation very stressful. Stepchange has been very professional in helping me determine the monthly repayment amount and in liaising with my creditors. StC have been very kind and have never made me feel bad about my debt.
