Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Extremely friendly people

Get rid of the Worry

Thankful and in good hands

I got breast cancer and had to stop work. I was stressed already and my financial situation was not good as I had anticipated I would work for many years. I found Step Change and immediately my worry was shared with people who gave me hope. I followed their advice and have now paid off a huge chunk of my debts. Cannot thank them enough. Saved me

I contacted StepChange when it was the CCCS ...

I contacted StepChange when it was the CCCS a number of years ago having reached what i genuinely thought was an irretrievable situation, my debts were unmanageable and I didn’t know what to do . A councillor took the necessary time to talk me through and offer me hope for the future through a Debt Management Plan . Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
