Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Brilliant service highly recommend

Brilliant service I was in a bad space with my mental health and money problems were causing additional stress, a friend recommended StepChange and I thought I would try and work out my financial situation and they were extremely helpful and supportive and took care of everything and took a huge load off my shoulders. I pay now to reduce my total debt rather than minimum payments which was effectively interest on that debt. Reviewed on: 28th May 2026

Well, what would i have done without stepchange.

Well, what would i have done without stepchange. I was struggling with my debts and now only got 1 year left to pay it off. When I'm struggling to meet my next payment, I phone up,explain my situation and they are so helpful and understanding. I've recently had a bereavement and they were so nice to me and offered support. I've not had one bad experience with stepchange. Well done to everyone involved and i can't thank you enough. StepChange was a game changer for me.

Piece of mind

When mental health causes financial crisis

After my wife fell ill due to Parkinson’s medication, she suffered a mental health crisis and we got into severe debt over £60kwhen I became aware of what was happening I was signposted to Step Change and with their help I have been able to get my debt down to a manageable level.
