Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Amazing charity

Stepchange were so helpful at a time when I was in a really bad place with debts, addiction and my mental health. They put me on the first steps to getting my problems sorted when I thought it was all a hopeless situation. I am finally getting my debts repaid thanks to the help and understanding from Stepchange. StepChange has given me peace of mind by consolidating my debts into one simple payment. They set up a direct debit for me without any fees, unlike many other companies that take advantage of people trying to become debt-free. My only complaint is that it's not easy to get in touch with them directly, which is understandable given how busy they must be. Reviewed on: 6th June 2025

An easy and beneficial process

I have had a rough few years which has lead to spiralling debt becoming unmanageable. The StepChange process made everything seem manageable. The process to set up a DMP was very clear, I've not had to phone e anyone which is a plus and the plan has gone well so far. An added bonus is that they don't charge for the service as a lot of dodgy companies will attempt. Reviewed on: 6th June 2025
