Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Helped me breathe again

I'd accumulated debt over a few years, what started as overspending became a problem I started to push under the carpet. I owed four debtors and was no longer eligible for 0% interest transfer rates. I was barely paying the interest. I used Google to find some help and it was really everything I needed. They allow me to pay off my debts in full (rather than declaring myself bankrupt) over many months, at a rate that is entirely affordable. The statements help me understand how many months left. The team deal with all communication with my debtors, leaving me safe and protected and feeling on top of my debts. I'm so grateful for Stepchange. They really saved me. Reviewed on: 6th June 2025
