I was very worried about my finances until I found StepChange. They have helped me face the total of all my debts and then to help negotiate an agreed way forward between all those I owed money at a monthly rate they would accept and I could afford. It does involve a considerable part of my income being paid towards my debts. It has also meant me having to considerably reduce my outgoings and to go out far less. It is also going to take several years of these restrictions while the debt is paid. StepChange are realistic and allow for some items like cars and microwaves etc to wear out over the period and to need repairing. You also have to take part in yearly reviews to check your current financial situation and see if it needs amending. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2024
