Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Guardian Angels with helpful hands.

Did not want to know why I was in debt, so were not judgmental.Run thru budgets (annually) advising what would be deemed unacceptable whilst making sure that each category of expenditure was realistic and sustainable to arrive at a net excess income figure to declare to creditor(s). Then approached them saving me the mental anguish of doing so or fending off potentially aggressive calls/letters, etc. I.E. Peace of mind. Obviously I have had to live with a reduced amount of disposable income but hey it's a small price to pay to get out of the hole irrespective of what caused it be it Scam/profligate spending/life-changing event. The most fantastic company you’ll come across

I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful stepchange are. They have helped me come out of a situation I couldn’t see an end to, and start to get my life back on track. I have been blown away by their staff who whenever I have dealt with them, have been so compassionate, kind and helpful that they’ve reduced me to tears. They are flexible, understanding and have some of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. I was in a horrendously bad place before I discovered step change and am doing way better now and a massive part of this is because of how wonderful they are. Helped me with planning debt repayment

Helped me through very bad times with depression, anxiety and stress related illness when I got into debt as I was not working. The company gave me repayment options and spoke to all the finance institutions to whom I owed money and stopped all interest payments. They then helped me budget and arrange a repayment plan.
