Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Really helped me out of a perilous situation from burying my head in the sand. Contacted all my debtors and put a d.m.p in place. Such a relief for me. Got the interest frozen on many of the accounts helping me pay off my debt at an affordable rate. Have been on it for 2 years now with an affordable monthly payment, and have approx 2 years left until I'm finally debt free, for the 1st time in my adult life! I can't thank step change enough! Debt management, By arranging agreement with my creditors, Gave me the breathing space I needed to reflect and see the reality of my position. The reality that you cannot live beyond your means. The reality of creating A debt crisis goes beyond impacting just yourself, The people Close to you suffer just as much. I say this with a tear in my eye. I was at the worst low of my life

I was in a very bad place until I made contact with StepChange and was dubious in how much they could help me at first. All of my expectations were exceeded, they have been absolutely amazing. They have made contact with all of my creditors on my behalf and took all of the stress away from me. I'm now on a debt management plan in which Stepchange made sure to keep my payments to my creditors affordable whilst ensuring I was comfortable with the whole process. Also everybody i have spoke to on the phone have been lovely and incredibly helpful. I just wish I had contacted them sooner and they would've been able to help me get out of this bad financial position I'm in sooner. Anyone that is in need of help with their financial situation, do not hesitate to contact Stepchange. I can't believe this service is free and so good, they really do deserve medals.
