Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Lifesavers

At a time when I was very, very low, StepChange were able to help me in a practical way in dealing with my debts. By producing a doable repayment programme from my personal income & expenditure, StepChange cleared a path for me to see, and believe, that a future for me did indeed exist. After being made redundant, I was desperate for help...

After being made redundant, I was desperate for help to sort out debt. I contacted Step Change for support, and they have! I can sleep at night, I'm not dodging the calls or worried about what the postman will bring that day. I am paying off my debts, I have given authority to my partner to help me. All my debts are paid in one payment and Step Change do the rest for free! 100% of the funds I pay go towards paying off my debts. The staff I have spoken to are so professional and yet friendly. At NO time have I felt judged, not once. When I was made redundant during covid, I felt desperate, not knowing where to turn, now I'm settled back in a new job, and the stress of repaying my debts is lifted. I contacted stepchange when I was struggling to pay...

I contacted stepchange when I was struggling to pay debts due to rising costs of today. The online forms were very straightforward and easy enough to complete, it was nice to know someone was there to help if needed with the forms. Once I completed everything asked, I just had to wait. It was around 10 days that I was contacted to say all was set up and when my first payment would be taken. In those 10 days stepchange emailed me and kept me up to date on what they had sent to my creditors. It was so easy from start to having my DMP set up, will definitely recommend to anyone struggling, wish I'd found out about it sooner as I wouldn't have had to struggle for so long. StepChange’s DMP has helped me!

I had joined StepChange on a DMP after experiencing financial hardship a couple of years ago. I was really worried about my finances and through their support I am 9 months off being completely debt free. They are supportive and great communicators and I pay a manageable amount per month that contributes directly to the debts I had.
