Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

StepChange helped to give me back my life

I turned to StepChange as a last resort to sorting out my hideous debts, after separating from my ex-husband. They were very helpful and understanding; organised Breathing Space with all my debtors and helped me to work out what I could comfortably afford to pay off each month. I have been able to pay more when I could and pay less when times were harder. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Superb service delivered with compassion

I was in a state of very poor mental health when I first contacted StepChange (with the help of my friend). The advisors were compassionate, very helpful and clearly well trained in dealing with clients with mental health difficulties. They helped me find the right solution for my circumstances and now I am almost debt-free. Their online platform let me monitor my progress - clear and easy to understand.
