Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Easy, stress free help!

It took me a long time to find the right help with my financial problems. StepChange was the easiest and least confrontational way of dealing with creditors who were previously uncooperative. It has helped immensely so far. I am unsure of the long term impact on my credit as i am very early on in my journey. Reviewed on: 30th May 2025

My financial difficulties were having an impact on my mental and emotional wellbeing; I felt ashamed, incredibly overwhelmed, and constantly anxious. The day I spoke to a counsellor from Step Change, I began to feel hope, the counsellor was understanding and very supportive, and I no longer felt alone.
