Leading the way

I had ,for 20 years ,an interest only mortgage with a major Building society when I reached the end of the term ,because I was 70 years old I was refused a continuation despite having never missed a payment.On extensive shopping around I found only ONE BUILDING SOCIETY Prepared to offer me a continuation and that was the VERNON. now many societies have followed. My Mortage Experience with Vernons - Louise Banks

The resaon for my review is largely down to Lucy Burnside who epitomised great customer service in every aspect of my mortgage application. The stress involved in my application, which was under difficult circumstances, was completely mitigated by the customer service I received. Emails were responded to immediately. Conversations were acted upon and followed up by the reassurance of an email or further telephone call as needed. The friendliness and care extended to me by Vernon's and specifically Lucy made me feel like a person Vernon's cared about rather than did a business deal with. Retirement mortgages from the Vernon give choice to older people in a very limited market.

Having the ability to find a mortgage product at the Vernon which makes mortgage borrowing possible at 70 or over has been a real lifeline. The possibility of carrying on being an independent homeowner with affordable payments has taken a lot of worry away. The service from the staff has been clear and professional.
