Bicycle Accident

I had an accident with a bicycle pedal in May when holidaying in Spain. I thought that it would heal quickly and my July/August trip to Finland would not be affected. However, the wound did not heal well and I was still receiving daily treatment in the UK when my departure for Finland came around. I have an annual policy with Avanti and new that I would have to inform them of my situation in spite of making no claims on my travel policy (all my treatment in Spain was taken care of under my European Health Insurance Card - it won't be when Brexit takes place!). My GP confirmed that I was fit to travel to Finland although I would continue to require treatment for the wound (cleaning & dressing). The Avanti customer services representative contacted the insurance underwriters and confirmed that I could continue with the annual travel insurance without any increase in premium, although any claim relating to my Spanish bicycle accident would not be covered. I considered this to be fair. Again my European Health Insurance Card covered me for the treatment that I have been having in Finland (visiting local medical centre on alternate days), and the leg is finally getting better. Excellent cover

Avanti easy on-line service

When searching for annual travel insurance I thought I had found a good deal with other insurers, after having completed the medical conditions and selecting worldwide cruise cover. Having had a reasonably competitive quote I then discovered that the medical and cruise sections still had to be added to the quote inflating it by almost half as much again. With Avanti the initial quote was the final quote. This was approximately 40% cheaper than other companies. The website was easy to navigate and easy to use. Reviewed on: 2nd October 2021

Flights cancelled

We were on holiday in India last year when as a result of lockdown all international flights were cancelled.. we paid for rescue Air India flights but Avanti explained that they could not pay for returning home on the rescue flights. Reviewed on: 2nd October 2021

Easy joining with knowledgable advisors

My husband has several medical issues therefore feeling confident that holiday insurance is going to cover us IF the situation arises is imperative. Price comparable to most (better than some) but dealing with someone over the phone that seems to understand your responses, doesn’t mind constant questions and seems to value you as a customer is refreshing.
