Switching to Nationwide was the best decision ever I switched to Nationwide a few years ago after poor service from a bank I had been with for over 40 years. It was the best decision I have ever made. Reviewed on: 21st July 2025

No security to your account. Very poor services

Terrible bank. They can not provide security of your money and the money keep constantly disappearing from your account. It happened multiple times with me, and after that they also charge you money when your account is in overdraft (because the money been stolen). So my account been in minus until I closed it. The customer service is terrible. Departments do not communicate at all. I do not recommend this bank to nobody. It was a mistake of choosing this bank. Branches are very far. I think it is few in South East London area. Reviewed on: 21st July 2017

Arbitrary withdrawal of overdraft

Despite an agreed overdraft repayment schedule, when funds from another source were introduced into the account for a separate purpose, Nationwide took what was owed on the overdraft leaving me £2000 short to repay an endowment. Reviewed on: 29th June 2017

Not as user friendly as they would have you believe

Nationwide offered me an online loan some time ago, then after a couple of years, simply withdrew it without any notice and expected me to pay it all back instantly. When I couldn't, they froze my account and removed it from my online accounts, so i can't even see how much I owe them now!!! Beware, they are just another greedy money-grabbing bank by another name. Worst bank ever

No fault of my own when I kept going overdrawn but I have to give credit to the person I spoke to who was very professional and returned all my charges going back from September 2016 to March 2017 and then the nightmare really begun. Nationwide returned 50.00 back to my account and then took it straight back out again . Then £100 in, another error so 50 out and didn't have the audacity to notify me. This kept happening to the point I switched to another account with Nationwide thinking fresh start, but no, more money in then out again. This as happened three time in the last three months, the latest 9 June 2017. My account is such a mess can't bare to read my statements. Poor service and staff who would probably struggle working a shop til. I will be closing my account ASAP and then the nightmare will be over. Reviewed on: 10th June 2017
