By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

I love the way this insurance works, it is so well suited to the number of miles I travel so works out excellent value. I've found the staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Makes it worth having a car in London

I've been with By Miles since they began in 2018, and I can tell you they've been nothing but amazing. I don't use my car to commute but I need it at weekends, and the insurance cost with a regular policy was starting to look pretty crazy. With By Miles, the base annual cost is a tiny fraction of what it was before. The per-mile charge is pennies, so I can have a day driving around the local area for a few pounds, and then save money for the rest of the week when the car is parked up. You can think about it like this: insurance is based on risk. Regular insurers will be giving you a price based on pessimistic (high) usage estimate, and therefore a high risk. A per-mile policy, because it literally only switches on when you're actually driving, is therefore based on the (much lower) real risk, unless you're someone who drives long distances on a daily basis. It's worth getting a quote - even if you use your car more than I do your total milage might still make By Miles worth your while. Reviewed on: 29th July 2020

Perfect for my needs

Delighted to find a policy that suits my needs. I can sometimes go a couple of weeks without using my vehicle. I’m quite happy to pay a fixed fee to cover my car at home and then pay a supplement depending on my mileage. ‘By Miles’ you may say. Reviewed on: 29th July 2020
