By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

The business model is technology based and breaks the mould of traditional insurance underwriting. It is great to have pay per mile car insurance which provides all the benefits of other insurers at a much cheaper rate for low non-business mileage. The bymiles Tracker is an added benefit in recording all the journeys and be able to track where I have left the car. The By Miles sign up service was really easy and informative. The app is great to track spend and predict cost of journeys. For the first time in my life I feel I am finally getting a good deal on my car insurance and am not worrying each year about what my premium is going to be!
