Always a pleasure to visit a branch. Always spotlessly clean. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable about the products and very happy to help. Service is excellent. They don't rush you into a decision, have plenty of time for the customer. Reviewed on: 29th January 2026

Annual Savings review

Have an Annual Savings review - always found Darlington Building Society staff to be very helpful with renewing ISA's and other savings accounts. Reviewed on: 29th January 2026

When things are going well, they are fine, BUT

When things are going well, they are fine. However, when there is a problem, they are poor at communicating with customers. For example, there was a recent problem with interest payments on regular savings accounts which took 3 weeks to resolve. The home screen showed a message that the problem would be resolved “shortly”. Also, the next interest payment date for regular savings accounts is wrong and remains wrong. Overall great customer service.

I rang as I never received a confirmation email of my account that I set up online. In particular Simon McCabe (Customer Contact Administrator) was very helpful and informative in advising me on my account and how I could get funds in to my account. Very easy to contact a person by telephone which is just great! Reviewed on: 27th January 2026
