Inconvenient and inaccessible at customer cost!

After an initial positive experience with DBS, I am shocked that since Jan 2026 they no longer have card machines in their buildings!? This makes it incredibly inconvenient to try and deposit into my savings account - I was told I can do this by bank transfer now, but when I put in my details on my banking app it says that they “couldn’t be checked right now, try again later or continue at your risk”. This isn’t good enough for a building society I initially chose due to convenience and ease. Additionally, their darlingtononline service is incredibly inaccessible and difficult to use, even for a young person in their twenties like me. Incredibly frustrating and ill be moving my money out of here as soon as I can, unfortunately. Reviewed on: 17th April 2026

Outstanding service

Vicky is a superstar. She explains everything in a very clear way and goes the extra mile. She is proactive and you come away feeling cared for an valued. Would highly recommend the building society. She needs to be cloned! Reviewed on: 17th April 2026

Excellent staff in the branches. Continuing availability of good quality branch-based products as opposed to focusing on online products, unlike certain other Societies. Locally owned, but national availability. Reviewed on: 16th April 2026

Good rates and great service

Darlington BS has some good rates for savings and the app is easy to use. I locked myself out of my online account and had to call for assistance. The agent, Simon, was quick to answer the call and gave useful relevant information. Problem solved quickly and efficiently in a friendly manner. Reviewed on: 14th April 2026

I recently phoned as I was having difficulty registering for online banking and spoke to Simon who was very helpful, he not inly helped me register FF or online banking, he also stayed while iwent through the process of applying for an account.
