Self Build Mortgage

Having been robbed by a builder I unexpectedly had to organise a mortgage on a one third built build at the great age of 68 years old. Ecology were extremely helpful and a life saver for me. Also they encourage the building of out of the ordinary houses with good "eco" credentials, which is reflected in the interest rate of the mortgage. Can't recommend them enough. Excellent in every way

In 2013 I required a mortgage to complete an architecturally designed Siberian Larch 4 bedroom house in rural Argyll. RBS, with whom I have had personal and business accounts since 1963, were emphatic in their denial - as were many other lenders - because I was either too old (mid sixties and well able to repay any mortgage!) or because wood was not acceptable in rural Scotland! Friendly, personal service and great product

Delighted to find this provider dedicated to and rewarding eco-conscious self-build projects such as ours, who don't demand design compromises as other providers did. We had a single point of contact throughout the application process who was friendly, personable and answered all our questions very promptly. Fantastic ethical building society

This bank was and is the most helpful company I have ever used! I’ve never said that about a finance company EVER! They were understanding , cared about the concept of our build. It was a strawbale eco house on tyre foundations making it carbon negative. The customer services has always been great and still is.
