Common sense, straight talking and fair

I phoned to take my ex-wife off my First Direct bank account and was told I would need to close the account and open a new account after being with First Direct for 20 years. Although the £100 incentive to switch bank accounts to First Direct wasn't applicable because I wasn't new, they gave it me anyway. No need to leave or threaten to leave to get an incentive elsewhere, no game playing, kind, professional and smart. Here's to another 20... Reviewed on: 10th November 2017

I have been with First Direct for over ten years and have never had any issues with them at all. They are always friendly and helpful and if the persona cannot assist will get a colleague who can. Interest rates on their accounts isn't great but will not change to another provider. Reviewed on: 9th November 2017

The best customer service ever. Have been with them for decades!

First Direct have a wonderful telephone banking system. They now have my voice recognition, so I don't have to go through lengthy customer numbers or passwords etc. So efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for the team. They are so friendly and cheerful. BACS are a breeze. The icing on the cake is their 5% savers account, money automatically transferred monthly from my current account to the savers account. I've been with them for decades. so easy and secure

As there are layers of security you can use different log-in details & if you forget 1 you are never locked out for long. Staff are helpful and very patient when things go wrong. The linked savings account is brilliant and I use the sweep option to move any remaining money at the end of the month to the savings account leaving me with a set amount of money My weekly text lets me know my balance and the latest transactions.
