Efficient and helpful bank

These days, what with bank transfers and credit/debit card payments, I find no need to visit a bank branch in person. Consequently, virtually all of my banking needs are done by telephone and getting through to First Direct is always quick and without any problems. The receptionists are knowledgeable and always very pleasant to talk with. I usually pay tradesmen and others by bank transfer these days, and it takes only a few minutes to discuss my requirements. The payment then usually goes through on the same day. I highly recommend First Direct to anyone considering a new current account. Reviewed on: 8th November 2017

First class service

First and foremost, I love that there are no auto messages to plough through when calling this bank. You get through to a person straightaway, an English speaking one in this country as well. They listen, they give advice, they act. Job done. Friendly, helpful, never pushy, always efficient. Secondly, I love this bank's online service. I can do almost everything online, all the usual services plus so much more. I love being able to let them know when I'm going abroad especially. Reviewed on: 8th November 2017

Customer service is great but for an online bank it's very slow

It takes days before transactions appear on my account or before my balance is updated. I mean days - like sometimes 4-5 days. This is crazy. I have started using a charge card Monzo for real time updates because it's impossible to keep on top of my spending otherwise. Also bizzarly annoying text messages every Wednesday morning to let you know what you spent. Thanks first direct but that was from over a week ago. So slow. Anytime i contact them, the customer service team are very nice. Reviewed on: 8th November 2017
