Although there are a plethora of challenger banks snapping at its heels, first direct retains its key advantage - the best customer service in the market. Reliable, solid platform, gives you what you need in a bank

I've been with FD for years, one of the earlier online banks but still a great performer. Easy to use platform and by and large reliable in terms of availability/uptime. Never had a problem with them. Reviewed on: 27th February 2021

Great service, when you phone the bank it is snswred by a person who can answer your query or help solve any problems not a computer that can't understand what you say or needs you to key in lots of numbers. Reviewed on: 20th February 2021

Been my fav bank for 30 yrs until starling and new online banks

Still my main bank as I wait for them to catch up giving me on instant alerts on all transactions. Currently they only provide alerts for £10 and over can take days to get them. They were the original phone banking service and their friendly efficient customer service (mainly lovely Scottish people I think) have always been a delight to contact which is why their customer service has always been voted tops. So I will be patient in waiting for them to catch up because they have looked after me do well for so long. I was surprised they didn’t lead again with the new banking apps like Starling.
