Easy to open

I opened a help to buy ISA with Halifax just under a year ago. I completed the process online and it took less than half an hour in total. It was easy to set up a standing order from my current account into the help to buy ISA and I can easily keep track of my account via online banking. AVOID! Very frustrated! Thinking of changing a bank!

I wanted to transfer my OWN money from my OWN account to my boyfriend's bank account a few times and it didn't go through the last time I did it, so I called Halifax. I was on phone with Halifax for about half an hour if not longer, answered endless security questions and was almost made to feel like some criminal, like I'm doing something illegal and in the end they said, that they can't process the payment, that I need to go to the bank with my ID to do that!! What was the point to call and spend half an hour answering many questions then? It was written to call them to process the payment, but it was useless! To add more, I tried to log in to my online banking, but I couldn't!! They won't let me in, my log in details are suspended after this call!! I could still log in to my bank account this morning before the call! I'm considering changing the bank, because I want to use MY money how I want and to transfer where I want and not having these problems!! AVOID! Reviewed on: 1st September 2016

WANT TO OWN MY OWN HOME AND THE INTEREST RATE ON THIS IS THE BEST ONE AROUND AT 4%. IT WILL TAKE A LONG TIME TO SAVE UP BUT SEEING THE MONEY BUILD UP IS A GREAT INCENTIVE TO CONTINUE SAVING. sTAFF ALWAYS HELPFUL Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

good rate

Found it very easy to take out a help to buy ISA. The rate with halifax is higher than others at 4% and hopefully in a few years I will have enough saved to put down a deposit on my own place Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

This Help to buy Isa is a lift out of the mud!

I love this help to buy isa... It's great for people trying to get onto the property ladder, and yet it's designed to give you back 25% on top of your savings from the government sheme, yet Halifax has backed this and is also putting there stamp on helping people by increasing a further 4% on top of your savings, resulting in a possible return of 29%!!! Which is on top of what you've saved! So say goodbye to chasing the market first time buyers!! ;) Reviewed on: 18th February 2016

Quick and Easy

Despite not holding a Halifax account, applying for a Help to Buy ISA online was a very quick and straight forward process. It took no more than 5 minutes to fill in and submit the application form. Additionally the 4% interest rate for the Help to Buy ISA currently being offered by Halifax, is the highest rate being offerered anywhere. Reviewed on: 17th February 2016
