Leighton Buzzard staff were pleasant, helpful, excellent explaining the T+Cs and answering my questions. Online support team are thoughtful, patient (took a while to realise my difficulties were caused by the Apple iOS) and helpful. They provided good advice, thanks to all. Reviewed on: 1st April 2024

Pleased to have found this Building Society!

On the whole it was very easy to set up a new ISA and transfer the balance from an existing ISA to my new Harpenden ISA. If there was one thing that could be improved (and hence my 4 stars instead of 5) it would be to simplify setting up my online access. As part of registering for a new ISA I had to register for online access but then after setting up the ISA I got an email telling me how to activate the account. I went around in circles for about 10 minutes before figuring out how to do this! I also received a second email which told me that I would find my new account number in a certain place on the online screen but it was actually somewhere else on the screen. Perhaps the email needs a slight revision? Neither of these two points were showstoppers but it would be nice if the process could be streamlined. Overall it was easy enough to set up the account and Harpenden responded quickly to the ISA transfer request. I'm a happy customer at this point!! Reviewed on: 9th March 2024

Opened an ISA in mid-February. Never received any confirmations or references that the account had been opened. Received an email addressed to another persons name, so it's obvious that GDPR isn't a high priority! I had no faith after this so requested the account be closed. And, received no reply to this. I then contacted Jsweeting on 18th February for assistance, and he hasn't responded - so don't hold out any hope he'll contact you back if you use the email he supplies here folks! Unlike the banks, my first communication with Harpenden Building Society was answered by a knowledgeable receptionist who was able to answer all my questions and send me full information of the savings account in which I was interested. I also welcome the interest rate and the fact that I can operate my account by post. Reviewed on: 29th February 2024
