Kent Reliance continues to do all it can to stop its existing mortgage customers from benefiting from the mortgage holiday relief the Government has put in place. They now refuse all mortgage holiday relief unless unneccessary and exhaustive finacial expenditure forms are submitted delaying the whole process in their favour or outright declining the requests. How strange these forms were not required previously but are now complusory. Will be reporting to the ombudsman but be warned- dodgy practice indeed from a very dodgy mortgage company.

Absolutely no customer service at all!
Trying to activate a Power of Attorney for an elderly relative has been an absolute nightmare. Caught abroad in the Covid-19 problems I asked for the Society to use the Office of the Public Guardian site to verify that I do indeed have a Power of Attorney in place and should therefore be able to access money for care Home fees etc. They were unwilling to do this. The OPG tell me that an email marked urgent would guarantee a response in 48 hours but they, Kent Reliance, seem unable or unwilling to do anything to help. They cannot even tell me whether they have actually asked for this information!
I will be flying into the UK to deal with this matter in person but apparently I cannot make an appointment at any branch, or the Head Office to see anyone to ensure that my relatives money can be released. I was told that "there are no appointments and branches are only open for essential business, like for people needing to get cash". Clearly moving money out of an investment account to a bank so that Care Home fees can be paid is not essential!
This situation is now causing enormous stress. They have admitted that they have registered a complaint and told me their Complaints team would be in touch within three working days. This is now eight working days ago and despite repeated phone calls I have heard absolutely nothing from them. I really have no idea how to get a response from them that means anything. Repeated assurances that the Complaints team will be in touch mean nothing and because a complaint has been raised no-one else will deal with this.
I can no longer see any alternative than to refer the matter to the relevant Ombudsman.

As others have mentioned on here the one thing that kept niggling us were the fees charged by KRBS. Once your special rate comes to end end and your interest shoots up to 6% + they will offer your another deal to 'lock in' again for another 2 3 or 4 years, then comes the hit, they want to charge you and its usually around the 500 mark, basically they ask do you want to pay it now? or add it to your mortgage balance? We left after 5 years with them for this reason. It's like a KRBS 'merry go round' you seem to be unable to get of it unless you make the jump. We did, now with another BS who charge no product fees/establishment fees and have better interest rates and no call centre in India.

Like a lot of other investors with this building society I am having real problems having money returned
after a substantial bond has matured, despite them receiving clear instructions to return the money to my linked account. Three emails and a telephone call have been ignored and they have set up a new account instead, at a lesser rate of interest. A very shoddy company which should be avoided

I saw some pretty bad reviews on here about there mortgages and these are really scary to read when your waiting for your completion. So here’s a peace of mind for people worried. Kent reliance only asked for a few payslips, we got our mortgage approval, waited 3 months for the house to be built and they transferred the funds as soon as our solicitors requested it. Please note we did not take any finance out at all whilst waiting. If you do take finance (even dfs sofa finance you could be declined)

Transferred a cash ISA to Kent Reliance a year back. Never had a problem with them, transactions have been easy to conduct on-line, and telephone service has been fine. I have never been kept waiting on the phone, and have found their advisors to be helpful and efficient. I have experienced no problems at all.

Great building society with a local branch that looks after its existing savers.

Local branch if you want to pop in and chat face to face or all available online. Being able to pop in was very helpful when I wanted to move my money over to one of their newly launched offers which had a better rate than the older once I had with them. All done there and then in the branch.

Very good rates from a trusted provider.

My advice to anyone looking for a mortgage, is to avoid this one like the plague. It is without question the most dreadful organisation I’ve ever come across. The customer service is laughable. I have been asking for my redemption statement on my mortgage, so that I can pay it off, for over 4 weeks. I have written, emailed, and telephoned. When I write with my request , in the format they have asked for, they reply days later to tell me to telephone with my request. When I telephone with my details they ask me to write. Meanwhile I am paying interest on a loan, which I do not need and want to pay off but cannot escape! Am writing to the ombudsman.

I am unfortunately a mortgage customer of Kent Reliance - fortunately my fix term ends soon - I cannot wait to move away from them.
Service from the start has been at best appalling - they make life so difficult and stressful. Changing the payment date of the DD you can only do it for certain dates in the moth which don't include the end or the start of the month when most people get paid - WHY?? I have just received a letter telling me that the fixed term is ending and to log onto their online portal to look at other offers input the 8 digit number on the letter - their portal only accepts 7 digits - You couldn't make this up.
Chose one of their DEALS and you only have to pay 0.25% of your existing mortgage balance for the privilege....the list goes on and on, all negatively.
If you are choosing a mortgage provider irrespective of your situation - avoid Kent Reliance like the Plague

Applied for a mortgage two months ago. KR request a continued stream of documentation - most of which they already have. Lots of false promises as we keep being told there will be a decision on our mortgage by the 'end of the week' - this is the fourth week now! Our vendors are becoming restless and looks like we may lose out on buying this house.
Surely it cannot take this long - I'd rather have been turned down at the start so we could explore options as a new application will set us back,
Please avoid this company.

These people are the biggest waste of space I have ever met! Messed us around for the last 2 month's wanting so much paperwork to be told at the last hurdle that they are going to decline the mortgage offer after taking our money and saying everything was fine! Truly upset and devastated as we have not only lost money but lost our new house and quite possibly homeless in a minute as can't find suitable accommodation for my whole family!!!

I find it extraordinary that customers awaiting the repayment of maturing investments should be told that this may take up to 5 days after the maturity date. In an age in which money can be moved around the world in seconds, one can only infer that the agenda here is to squeeze some further financial benefit from hapless customers, at the latters’ expense.

My wife and I were tempted by higher interest rates, to transfer ISA’s to Kent Alliance. We have never met such tardyness and incompetence from any finanancial institution and, fortunately, were able to stop the transfers before they were completed. Will never be tempted again, reliability and efficiency are worth far more than a slightly better rate. Pity it was not possible to give a zero mark

I applied for an Easy Access Savings Account and received an e-mail asking for proof of address which I sent the same day. Ten days later, having heard nothing, I called their Customer Services and, after a 20-minute wait, was told they were inundated with applications for the new account and I should hear in the next few days. Twelve days later I have heard nothing. An “enticing” Interest Rate is no good when an account cannot be opened... In the meantime I applied elsewhere and am now up and running... to Kent Reliance’s loss.
