At-counter wheelchair accessibility

The staff I come face to face with every time I visit the branch have never given me any problems whatsoever. However I must take this opportunity to question why upper management or whomever had jurisdiction chose to sign off on a complete revamp of the branch, reportedly costing tens of thousands; which rendered full time, non standing wheelchair users completely unable to utilise the cashiers' counters unaided?? It's not fair and makes us feel very unconsidered as customers. Reviewed on: 20th March 2024

We’re sorry to hear that you feel the needs of wheelchair users weren’t considered when we completed our recent branch refurbishment programme. We designed our branches to provide different zones and areas to cater for a wide variety of customer needs and requests. One of these is the engagement desk that can now be found in each branch. These are set at a lower level than the counters (being standard office desk height) and many of our customers who are wheelchair users have found these to be an improvement over the traditional counters and security screens that were previously in place. Should you have any particular preferences for how you’d like to transact on your accounts in branch then please don’t hesitate to speak with the staff during your next visit and they’ll be happy to discuss these with you. We love that the Leek provides local direct contact with staff when needed. It is very refreshing to see the “face” of a building society and have real, professional, polite and friendly people answer the occasional query we have. To us this shows the Leeks commitment to real customer service, commitment to us and commitment to the product they offer.
