An absolute godsend

During a pretty vicious storm here in the Highlands we lost part of our roof during the night. It was only in the morning when I left the house that I found the whole roof ridge with one end hanging from the roof and the other in the front garden surrounded by various slates and other stuff. We live quite close to the main road and I was worried that due to the ongoing high winds we were going to lose the rest of the roof and possibly injure a passer by or driver. I needn't have worried.!

I knew that LV were my insurers but couldn't find my policy documents or any details but when I spoke to them, they found all my info in seconds.! They asked if I had a roofer I wanted to use or would they get on for me. I decided to use a local chap and all I had to do was give him a ring. He came out and looked at the job, sent photos by email to LV and they phoned him 5 mins later to tell him to carry on with the job. I was absolutely gobsmacked..!
They also phoned me a day or two later just to check if we had suffered any water damage to our belongings stored in the loft. I just don't think you can beat that for service.

We hear so many horror stories about how difficult insurance companies can be but LV were wonderful. They were calm, re-assuring and got the job done without drama or panic over the cost.

I just wouldn't go anywhere else.

Apalling customer service AVOID

Added another vehicle to an existing policy in September 2018. Hit by 3rd party who have admitted liability (drivers door hit). Car sent to their approved repairer. Car has come back now with no warranty because they have sprayed the wing to colour...

Added another vehicle to an existing policy in September 2018. Hit by 3rd party who have admitted liability (drivers door hit). Car sent to their approved repairer. Car has come back now with no warranty because they have sprayed the wing to colour match (car 2 years old). Paintwork horrendous having already chipped. Taken vehicle to Burrows for inspection. LV sent out their own person to do the inspection. Only authorising 2 door seals. Says paint work satisfactory?! Clearly not when the claims advisor says on the phone that customer relations have seen the photos and will put me in a position as per before the accident. Three days later your telling me your not responsible for anything other than 2 door seals. Over promise and under deliver. Good job calls are recorded! What are you going to do about the warranty issue now. The car is on finance and the dealership won’t take the car back in that state! Avoid LV and the cowboys who carried out the repairs - Just Car Clinic. Will be taking the matter to FOS.

Tried to make a claim for rain damage during some *VERY* heavy rain

I was told that because their records showed it hadn't rained "enough" during that day, that they wouldn't honor my claim, even though the torrential downpour made local news!

Another disgraceful company that will always do their best to avoid paying out

The lady answering the claims call was also exceptionally rude and patronizing.

AVOID


PS - Note to LV. Do NOT BOTHER replying to this saying something generic like "oh sorry to hear about this. Please email us at we-dont-care @ lv.com to discuss further" because realistically you don't care and that kind of reply is the biggest cop out ever.

You have my records on your system... if you care about resolving this YOU CALL ME.

Would have given no stars if I could. I was just trying to help a friend who has a basic bank account pay for her car insurance. They would not take payment from me as the card is registered to a different address. This is discrimination against those who have less money than others. She has the cash, just not a credit card. Now, not only has she been discriminated against for being less well off than some, but she will have to pay more elsewhere!

Lack of communication

I was in a no fault accident with a motorcyclist, who received a police caution resulting from the incident. My car was written off and after some chasing for the reason it was written off I received a settlement, less my excess. (one star awarded)....

My car was written off and after some chasing for the reason it was written off I received a settlement, less my excess. (one star awarded). From that moment and despite 3 email requests from me I have had no replies with information about the claim against the motorcyclist's insurance company.

No hassle apart from unnecessary paperwork

Had great quotes / prices from this company for the last few years. My only complaint was the insurer's bizarre request for extensive paperwork at renewal. Apparently it was a random computer check. It caused me unnecessary hassle and left me wanting...
