Unbeatable for those starting self-employment

Functions perfectly, connections with freeagent are unbeatable value for anyone starting out in self-employment or a new business. Customer service has always been available to discuss any errors, generally far more receptive than usual consumer banking. Mettle should be the bank account of choice.

From the moment I accessed the website to set up my Mettle account, the account opening process was seamless and straight forward, and day-to-day account operation has been so easy; the phone app makes it easy to check balances, categorise transactions, add receipts and transaction notes and effect payments. Setting up a linked savings account is a real bonus, as is the interface with accounting software. Reviewed on: 18th March 2026
