Review of the NatWest, Fixed Rate Mortgage:

A child is not a long-term debt!

Finding the right mortgage is already hard enough but banks seem to making it even harder when calculating the affordability check when you have children! Nursery fees are expensive, we all know that, but when you have a government that provides support, that should count as an income (sure if it counts for tax!), majority said that Gov help may not last therefore is not guaranteed but a child being out of a full time care is guaranteed when they enroll in school! NatWest was the only bank who understood that this expense only lasts a short period of time and approved that a couple with two full time jobs could afford a mortgage as it was less than what we were paying for rent for at least the past five years. Remortgage rip off

Natwest offering 1.9 pct to remortgage and 1.4 to new customers for 2 yrs fixed . Pretty much every other bank is offering 1.35 for either new or old. Government owned. Natwest is ripping off poor current customers who have poor LTV and who cannot move over to other banks whilst similarly trying to attract new business. Poor poor show. . When no one else would.

Our bank Santander refused our mortgage based on hand written wage slips, even though the money went into same account. Natwest didn't mind the wage slips, gave me exactly what I wanted in a quick efficient manner. Reviewed on: 13th January 2018

Great for first time buyers

I had no issue being given a mortgage with Natwest as a first time buyer. My income fluctuates as I receive commission on top of a basic wage but this was taken into account, which many banks did not, so I was able to borrow enough to get me on the ladder! Reviewed on: 8th November 2017

Brilliant experience from start to finish

When we decided to buy our first house, the first place we went to was our bank. Natwest were incredibly knowledgable about the different mortgage options available to us. It was clear, concise & I never once felt bombarded or "blinded with science" Once we'd signed on the dotted line as it were, the process was extremely easy & everything went through really quickly.
