Appalling!

Went through online application for income bonds which took my money but provided no evidence on screen or by email that it had opened an account in my name. I've spent nearly four hours on hold on NS&I's local-rate phoneline to its sales and then complaints teams, seeking confirmation that my money would be repaid - both times I called the complaints service the phone was answered by someone who was not part of the team and could not address my complaint. Probably the worst customer service of any company anywhere - ever!

Dreadful clunky set-up, resulting in persistent errors and continuous phone calls to try and sort things out, with the most unhelpful customer service. Reviewed on: 4th November 2016

Low-tech and clueless

Outdated IT, out-of-date phone numbers, clunky procedures, antiquated transfer mechanisms and card-payment applications = a goliath organisation that is completely out of touch with modern banking. Reviewed on: 4th November 2016

Put off for life!

I have been trying to get my son to save for years. Eventually he agreed to buy some savings bonds. NS&I requested id, passport, driving licence all signed by a professional. We did this and sent back - they stated they had it. Then sent out a request for more. Anyway they took more of his money - over the phone - then sent it back saying the account had been blocked for 21 days. We then received a letter from Customer Services Manager - Andreana Carrigan - stating that the account had been cancelled. But she would hope that we invest with NS&I in the future! I contacted customer services wanting to discuss with Andreana Carrigan - apparently she does not take calls! - when asked why they stated this was just a name the put on the letters and was not actually a person. THE WORST SERVICE I have ever encountered. Do not use these monkeys - they have not put my son of saving for life! I am furious. So disappointed. Reviewed on: 4th April 2016

Easy to manage....but very low rates!

I recently decided to close this account with NS&I. Although the product was quite easy to manage online (I don't think I've ever need to call them), the rate offered is very low. I would look at reopening if the interest rates increased. Reviewed on: 6th April 2015
