Worse Car Insurance company I have ever seen in 30 years of driving

O2 Drive came up as a reasonable car insurance comparison quote, and I picked them because of the 5-star Defaqto score. Little did I know that the Defaqto score is just for the options offered , NOT the quality or review score. O2 Drive is a new service set up by mobile company O2, on the cheap, to cash in on the lucrative car insurance market. So while the advertising seems good, after being with them for a year, I am utterly shocked at how poor the service was, and how downright unhelpful and arrogant the majority of online staff were, when you do actually need their help. For instance, I finally has a minor accident after 7 years no-claims, but when I reported it, I found I had accidentally mistyped a letter in my registration number, but the documents I had sent over actually had the correct details. When I had to lodge a claim, O2 Drive gleefully told me that they wouldn't accept it because I had made an error, and it wasn't their responsibility to check my other documents even if they had been requested, so rejected it. They told me I would have to contact their underwriter Ageas myself. Ageas were sympathetic at first, but then later came back and told me that O2 Drive had totally bluntly refused to accept my claim, so I had to pay for the massive insurance repairs to both cars myself. When I tried talking to O2 Drive again, the handler actually laughed and made fun of me, telling me I "should be grateful the police didn't come and arrest me for driving without insurance" after mistyping my number-plate. Giving the correct details in the rest of the documents doesn't count. I wasn't happy at the vervice, and did complain, but then O2 Drive just dismissed it. O2 Drive never bothered contacting me ever again, and I renewed car insurance with another company, then found O2 Drive had the nerve to automatically RENEW my car insurance with them without even telling me, and without my permission. A totally incompetent, "just 9-5", bunch of minimal-wage staff, who have no idea of customer service, and just don't care. Please avoid until they actually introduce even a little customer care. Would rather have cancer then there insurance

Was insured for 6 months with a black box. no problems. Then 20 minutes into 2019 they apparently caught me speeding on the black box. And give me a black flag. Then 3 days later they give me a second one. Now I'm just wait for the 3rd. So they can cancel my policy for no reason. Hope the manager dies in front of his kids Reviewed on: 10th January 2019

I got a quote online at the right cost so called them to go ahead with the quote sat on the phone for 20 min listening to there crap.So i started looking in to there reviews and i didn't like what i was reading so i put the phone down 10 min later i got a call back from them saying i'd been entered in to a £20.00 prize draw. O2 dive keep the £20.00 and up grade your phone service and customer relations .........! don't use this insurance company.......!!!! Reviewed on: 5th January 2019

Should have stuck to mobiles

Very poor service when I needed to change my car: gave me a quote for the new one that was nearly double the cheapest alternative, and 40% more than o2 themselves quoted via an insurance comparison site. The rep was completely uninterested and there was no sense they were interested in keeping me as a customer. I chose to pay the cancellation fee on my policy and go elsewhere, and still saved a lot of money! Not a great attitude towards their customers - thank God I didn't have to make a claim; I shudder to think what they would have been like to deal with. Reviewed on: 3rd January 2019

An absolutely dreadful company

Pity there's no option to give no stars.My daughters partner took out insurance with O2. He's been stopped twice for not having insurance, apparently not on the database. First time he contacted them about it they made some ridiculous excuse about a delay putting it on ( over 2 months) but they assured him it would be done. Lo and behold he got pulled by the police again a month or so later for no insurance. So he got onto them again and they came back with the explanation that there was a problem with the underwriters. They then said it would cost him an extra £1200 to sort out, go figure. End result insurance cancelled and taken out with a proper insurer Reviewed on: 31st October 2018

This is the worst car insurance company i have come across. They damaged my car while inserting the black box , reported it and asked them to fix my car but they denied responsibility. Their engineer ALEX WILLIAMS is the one who damaged my car. Now am left with bills to sort out my car. Reviewed on: 26th October 2018

Disgrace

My son took a policy with this company.He was hit by a fail to stop driver that is captured on cctv but can’t make the Registration number out. The police were happy he was not at fault .He’s lost his car as it was written off. As there was no other party to claim off O2 drive added on an additional £400 to his excess as he’s a young driver and are charging him almost £600 to close his policy. No one sold him legal cover either. He has paid 02 drive over £2000 in insurance for nothing. The policies have more twists and add ons that are beyond belief. I believe they are selling young people insurance like bank loans and when they really need cover you don’t provide it and to add insult to injury they add on more cost. They increased the quote after I had paid!!

I came to O2Drive through a quote through compare the market.com (CTM.COM) and completed all necessary information (CTM.COM) including details of a previous claim. The insurance quote was marginally better than my previous company and so I accepted the quote, only to get a bill two weeks later for another £56 in a letter saying that I hadn't disclosed information of my previous claim, which I did. When I complained they said that CTM.COM quote didn't have any record of my previous claim but it was recorded and I had a screen shot of this. They still won't budge, and wouldn't cancel the insurance without £60 charge and further charges for use of the insurance. I'm absolutely furious with them as through chaining to them my insurance has now increased over staying with my existing company. I would not recommend them. Please tread carefully.
