Avoid at all costs

My car was hit - I wasn't in it but the other driver left name and address. No fault?? When the other driver's insurance didn't pay up fast enough RIAS turned it into my fault and increased the premium. The e-mail they say they sent disappeared so they cancelled my policy and I knew nothing about it. The company theat "Goes the extra mile" couldnt care less about it's customers. Two Years in as a customer

They say you don't know an insure till you need to claim. Very true. Despite not needing to claim I can't fault the service. My renewal was for the first time in my life cheaper than the market leading comparison sites so remained with them. Online account access good and does what it needs to - all being very basic though. Nothing visually to talk about. Just make your payments and don't crash and I suppose every insurer is the same. Can't fault them as stated above been with them two years and if the price is right will make it three. Reviewed on: 1st December 2023

It systems hopeless.

I have been unable to gain online access my insurance documents on 24th November 2023 despite previous assurances from RIAS (on the phone) that the IT problems have been resolved. I cannot get through on the phone today, having been cut off once already. What will happen if I have to make a claim I wonder!! Reviewed on: 24th November 2023

Just had my car insurance renewel notice

car insurance increased by 72% from last year which included a £20 policy set up fee.........outrageous. I found cheaper insurance in 3 minutes and have moved and never going back. Reviewed on: 29th August 2023

Terrible insurance company

I made a claim in 2022 for an unoccupied vehicle that rolled into my car. The claim still isn’t settled a whole year later. Overall a very poor company. Renewal comes and I say I don’t want to renew as their price is 3x what others would charge. Contacted them over the phone after waiting for what seemed forever. Man on the phone was very unhelpful. I was within the cooling off period before the renewal was to begin and they wanted to charge £30 for the 8 days I was insured when my new company would charge £50 for the whole month! And they wanted to smack a £20 renewal start up fee on too?? Which doesn’t make sense as I didn’t start the policy……..??? Reviewed on: 21st August 2023

Rip off

Rias took last payment from previous cover, then on the same day took the first months payment of current cover.. cancelled cover within 10 days of renewal and they then take £25 cancellation fee…. £25 for a 2 minute phone call. Awful company with terrible customer service

My motor insurance direct debit payments with RIAS were £27 a month. After (exactly) 2 months, I sold my car & wanted to cancel my insurance. After queueing on the phone for 28 minutes I spoke to a lady who told me that the cancellation charge would be £50. I realised that they would charge an admin fee so I thought this was acceptable. I then received a letter saying that I owed them £122! I tried twice to contact them by phone but, after waiting in excess of 30 minutes each time, I hung up & decided to email them. Several emails were exchanged with their customer service team. It took 4 days on average to receive a reply by email. Each message gave a phone number & stated that it was best to contact them by telephone (I think not!!). I asked them to explain how on earth they calculated that I owe them £122 but their replies did not really shed any light on how they calculated this charge. They merely repeated the same things each time. While all this was going on, they even passed this on to a debt collection agency to deal with!!! I hadn't even said that I wasn't paying, I just wanted to know how they came to this figure. You get what you pay for! If you want cheap insurance & don't make a claim or need help from customer service, then I guess that's OK. But if you ever need any assistance, then God help you. I certainly won't EVER use them again, and I recommend people take note of all of the terrible reviews on the Internet for this company. Reviewed on: 26th April 2022

Exspensive good service and helpful.

1st year exspensive . Second year the insure went up higher in price I ask why and they lowered it by an amount of about 60pounds .The third year they sent a reminder to which I thought was to much money. So I cancelled. Reviewed on: 7th September 2017
