Woefully poor emergency claims experience

We are in the middle of an ongoing and still unresolved EMERGENCY PLUMBING CLAIM after four and a half weeks. The Claims team don’t understand about basic customer service, saying they’ll get back you and then nothing happens so we always have to phone them - our phone time to them is now about ten hours. They use an emergency plumber that you can’t contact over the weekends. You can’t ever speak to the same person twice even if you have their name, neither will they give you the Network Manager’s name or contact details nor put you through to anyone who can actually make a decision. It’s “not their protocol” apparently so you’re at the mercy of one of 80 telephone operators who aren’t allowed to make decisions and just sound bored as they repeat ad nauseam “there’s nothing I can do”. I actually doubt the Network Manager exists, because they should have contacted us yesterday and we’re still waiting. They also demonstrate poor competence - they arranged for a second plumber to contact us; heard nothing so we phoned them - turns out they don’t even do the type of work we need and had told Saga that but Saga didn’t bother to let us know. Our claim has been escalated to the invisible Network Manager so now no one in the Claims team can do anything apparently, not even to arrange for another (third or fourth by now?!) plumber - meanwhile we’ve been 4 and a half weeks without water! We have lodged our complaint and were supposed to have heard from the Complaints team on Monday - to date have heard nothing. I can’t find anything about their emergency KPIs, probably because they know they won’t meet them. Meanwhile the leak is getting worse, we are STILL awaiting a plumber (great emergency service!) and this claim is costing Saga more by the day due to their total incompetence. I had to contact Saga because of a leaking cistern. The Saga staff were helpful and professional. And they arranged for an emergency plumber appointment in under 4 hours . Great communication from the plumbing company too . Most impressed by the service. Reviewed on: 30th September 2021

Searched around for a competitive product for our new self built house. Saga were the only company that provided a clearly worded and easily understood set of options on coverage presented via a great online platform. Understanding the options for cover were easy and selecting and signing up simple and clear. When I have talked to the helpline they have been very courteous, accurate and prepared to go the extra mile.
