The WORST pet insurance!

The WORST pet insurance! We had a kitten insured with this so-called insurance. A KITTEN! And when a kitten got sick the insurance didn’t want to pay any vet bills – NONE! They said that it’s a pre-existing condition! A KITTEN! Our lovely vets tried for months to contact this Sainsbury’s Pet insurance and no joy. Eventually, we had a £900 bill from the vets to pay. Of course, we cancelled this useless insurance immediately! All they are interested in is taking your money. We made an official complaint but no one cared. Reviewed on: 20th August 2021

Appalling service

Absolutely dreadful. They don't fulfil any of the terms of the contract. Don't confirm receipt of claims, do their utmost to avoid paying out, when you chase them up you get a different story every time you ring. Very quick to exclude all conditions. Take a long time to give a decision. Rarely put anything in writing, Load premiums a lot as your pet gets older. Cancelled my policy after 11 years paying. Reviewed on: 13th June 2021

Claim not paid

I've been in touch with Sainsburys 6 times and still cant receive payment for a claim made 5 weeks. Promises made to sort it out but still no sign of payment Reviewed on: 20th August 2020

Good enough price, high premiums

It's a fine product but coverage is a little limited and premiums are sky-high. Reviewed on: 1st September 2019

Awful

Unclear policy, unclear sales process, leading to proactive elimination of claims. Unfriendly service, complaints not handled within the deadlines. Reviewed on: 25th March 2019

Poor at cancellation

I cancelled my pet insurance policy before it renewed. I was told that they would cancel the direct debit. So, on the day the new policy would have started, they still took the new premium from my account, sending me into my overdraft. This was a couple of months ago and I still haven’t had a response to my complaint. Reviewed on: 1st June 2018

Reliable but prices increase

Good as a company who pay out without making you jump through hoops, but you pay for the privilege! I wish I'd just put the money aside as the price increases have been extortionate through the years! My cats are now too old to swap insurance suppliers. Reviewed on: 28th August 2016
