Good or bad, hmmm not sure ???

I have both a current account and a savings account with Santander and have mixed feelings about the level of service I receive from them. With interest rates and types of account I think they are pretty good, however most of the times I go into my branch the staff seem to be uninterested at what I am trying to do. They are too busy trying to sell me new products or services even though I have declined them on a previous visit. The other thing that is really annoying is that I cannot withdraw more than £500 in a single transaction without having to pre-order and wait 3 days for it, other banks that I use do not use this policy and I am free to take my money whenever I want. Would recommend Santander. Banked with them for many years, branches are all over the place, staff are so friendly. Never had any problems. Reviewed on: 29th December 2015

I have been with Santander for nearly 20 years. Their customer service is always excellent and their mobile app is incredibly simple and secure. Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Reliable, trustworthy and honest brand.

My husband and I set this account up 5 years ago, to manage our household finances. In the last 5 years we have had a small overdraft on and off and never had any problems with this. The fees are very reasonable. When someone tried to use our card fraudulently, after a big company had a security breech and failed to tell us, they called us immediately. They noticed a very small transaction of just $7 in a hotel abroad and they promptly declined it and stopped the fraudsters potentially accessing the thousands that were in our account on payday! The customer service is fantastic and you can even send them messages about certain things via the online banking portal which is great if you remember a query at 2am! Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

As banks go, not too bad - unless you get badly overdrawn

I have been with Santander for many years and have two basic current accounts - one i use for personal, the other for business. The online experience is really good - especially on iPad but also on Android as well as desktops - transferring between accounts is easy and paying bills is easy - the biggest gripe is the flawed 'pending payments' option - this only works with direct debits - anything else that's a regular payment doesn't show up - even though I suspect that the bank still must know in advance that a payment is coming out. If you go accidentally overdrawn, they say they can refund charges as a 'goodwill gesture' about once a year - I know this isn't actually set in stone as I know someone that works at the bank - my branch - it's just something phone operators are told to say. So unless you argue and complain, you can still effectively be charged about £20 for going overdrawn by a fiver. Reviewed on: 18th August 2015

Excellent customer service

I have been with Santander since it took over the Abbey, at first I was apprehensive as Abbey had been a great bank to be with but my fears were unfounded. I had moved to the abbey from another bank with poor service but both them and eventually Santander have been absolutely fantastic. They have contacted me about unusual activity on my account and once I'd rung them back on a number I had they have sorted the issues out very quickly and without penalty to me. I would never move from Santander, their online banking is fantastic with all my accounts accessible from one place. The security measures are great too. I would thoroughly recomend them to everyone. Online banking and security excellent

I've found online banking with this account incredibly easy. Setting up and managing one-off payments, direct debits and standing orders is very quick, as was increasing my overdraft. I also like the fact that Santander will temporarily hold any suspicious (or new) large payments until they've called you to verify they're legitimate. It's an automated voice service but again it's very clear and intuitive. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

santander are fine...until you actually want something

I've banked with Santander for years, but fact is, I only still do so since I can't be doing with the hassle of changing. They're a safe bank for my money and are fine with an easy to use current account. If you want anything at all - even something as simple as changing a few details - you may as well be asking for the impossible. They are generally unfriendly and inflexible.
