Santander not flashy but consistent

Santander have always paid interest to current accounts, ma not be the highest rate but always consistent in giving some interest. Also I Iike the Regular Saver which is easy to manage and can easily be swoped back to the current account if an instant top up is required. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

Difficult to open and manage account

I tried to open a saver account and TBH it was hard work, mainly because I had previously had an account with them 20 years ago. Obviously my address had changed since then and Santander needed all sorts of identity proof because of that. I couldn't access my account online as the verification process took so long. By the time I got access, other banks' interest rates had overtaken the Santander offer. Closing the account proved easier than opening it. Plus, the online site was not easy to use. I make a healthy interest on my investment and it’s easy access and can transfer to current account as and when necessary. Reviewed on: 11th March 2023

Slow & frustrating

As Santander's opening hours are limited it makes it very difficult to arrange an appointment. It also means that a lot of prior planning is involved to sort out issues. Very frustrating especially when working a 9-5 job as have to take time off to go to the bank. Reviewed on: 11th March 2023

Non fanno aprire il conto a chi non e cittadino spagnolo

Questa banca discrimina chi non ha una cittadinanza spagnola! Prima si fa pubblicità anche su FB e IG, ma poi all’apertura del conto iniziano i problemi...Infatti fa aprire il conto online solo a chi ha la cittadinanza spagnola. Cose da pazzi che al giorno d’oggi in una società cosmopolita una banca voglia limitare la clientela ai soli cittadini della nazione ove ha sede! Ho chiesto anche informazioni in merito all’assistenza clienti ma non si sono degnati di rispondere alla mia domanda! Quindi secondo questi signori una cittadina italiana che si trova in Spagna non può essere loro correntista. Bè peggio per loro perchè perderanno tanti clienti! Reviewed on: 11th December 2022

Timewasters and Liars - Deal with you but only when it suits them

Applied for a savings account at the start of October - 2.75% easy access. They emailed to say they had approved application and would be setting it up, then didn't hear anything. I chased it up and they said they had dropped the application as they had taken to long to proccess it! Like that is my fault they cant sort themselves out! And now they wont offer it anymore, they have downgraded it to a 1.8%. Really wasted a lot of time and I could have put my money elsewhere if only I had known they were such liars and time wasters. A good mind to take my current account to a different provider. Reviewed on: 5th December 2022

The Worst Bank in the UK

Please, please, please avoid this terrible bank. You will spend waiting to get through to them on the phone after they locked you out of your account for no good reason. They currently have our money and there seems to be no way to get it out. I can’t believe this bank is allowed to operate in the UK.
