Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

When I was at my lowest ebb, and struggling to cope after divorce, I honestly did not know where to turn. I was recommended to StepChange. They gave me advice, and help, but the fact that they did this with unlimited patience, understanding, and support. They also gave me the most precious thing of all. Hope. I have been using their services for a few years now, and am almost totally clear of debts. Absolutely amazing organisation, with the most amazing people! StepChange, simply amazing.

Quite simply put, without StepChange I would've been at rock bottom with no way up. They have a very simple but intuitive form to fill in with all your details, debts, etc and it's set up without any further input from yourself. Now instead of scraping pennies by at the end of the month, I make a reasonable payment to StepChange and even get to save a little money for any future problems. Reviewed on: 1st May 2024

I was in a lot of debt and they have helped me to manage and reduce that debt since 2020. I should be debt free by September this year. They have helped me to stay on track with my money and to save money where I can. It’s changed my attitude to save money and only pay for things when I have the money to do so.
