Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Very grateful for StepChange!

I am genuinely amazed and very grateful, for the service and compassion of the StepChange people. The process ensured I felt in control and got to being debt free as soon as possible. The process was easy, I was able to track payments and debts, and make changes where needed with ease. i was drowning in debt following a divorce.

i was drowning in debt following a divorce. I kept putting things off as i was embarrassed about the size of my combined debts and not wanting to address it myself, let alone a 'stranger'. i was also concerned that i would then be getting myself into more debt by acquiring 'fees'. shouldn't have worried, and how i wish i had done this far sooner. Yes, that first phone call is a bit awkward, but the staff are friendly, helpful and non judgemental. StepChnage quite literally changed everything for me.

StepChnage quite literally changed everything for me. I felt like I was never going to pay off my debt, I was paying so much interest so just couldn't ever see a way of making my debt any more manageable. StepChnage were completely non-judgemental and helped me communicate with my banks to explain my situation, I am now over half way though my debt re-payment plan and finally see a future where I will be debt free and get my life back. Scary experience in general when you get in to sever...

Scary experience in general when you get in to severe debt difficulty so taking that first leap was tough. But stepchanges explanations and tools you can use made it a much more pleasant and reassuring experience. It’s allowed me to be more in control, and it’s literally changed my life and allowed me to get back in control again.
