Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

literally changed my life

I felt like I was literally drowning, money constantly on my mind and felt absolutely overwhelmed. went on to step change website entered all my information and within a couple of hours had a plan to pay back everything I owed within 5 years . The greatest debt charity ever!!

I have been struggling with my finances ever since I was in university and stupidly took out many payday loans that even now I’m struggling to pay back! Being a single mum, with a very small income, this charity is helping me on my way to becoming debt free which is a huge relief of my shoulders and allows me to focus and give my time to my family! Life savers!

I was in such a bad place financially, although myself and my husband both work, the change in the financial climate has caused us to struggle to make ends meet, we have 4 children to provide for and we were struggling to put food on the table let alone paying our debts. We could comfortably afford them before, then all of a sudden we couldn’t even afford to make our minimum payments. It was such a stressful time, neither of us were sleeping and it had an effect on our health, then I got in contact with StepChange. I was put at ease straight away. I was reassured that there was a way out of the debt and I honestly felt like I could breathe again. I have spoken with advisers who were wonderful, but I have also used the website which was so easy and straightforward. I would recommend StepChange to anyone who just needs to breathe again. Literally saved my life

Although I was lucky enough to keep my job during covid, at the height of the pandemic it was too dangerous health wise for me to do my full duties which meant taking a cut in pay, my debts started to grow and Stepchange was there to deal with everything. Then after covid I had to take a cut in salary to keep my job. Stepchange literally saved my life. Its great to be able to sleep at night
