Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was completely overwhelmed when I asked for help but it was the best decision I’ve made. Although it will take a while to become debt free at least I now have enough money to live on and the letters from my debtors have stopped so I can sleep again! Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

Going from sleepless nights to peace of mind

Step change have helped me go from having sleepless nights to having peace of mind. Having a family, mortgage and being on a fluctuating salary meant that I fell into a tremendous amount of debt. With step changes help and guidance they have helped me prioritise my bills and get my life back on track. Being in a debt management plan has meant that I have paid off 2 debts so far and back up to date with 3 of my immediate bills. Stepchange helped me out of drowning debt.
