Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

A Wave of Relief!

It was the best thing we could have done to ask StepChange to look at our finances, with a view to proving us with a means to find a positive solution to our financial situation. Within weeks, they had steered us back onto some kind of financial stability, and more importantly, a financial future. Although early days, we CAN now begin see the Light at the Tunnel! A fantastic service.

I was struggling with 2 RBS maxed out overdrafts, built up over 4yrs as a single parent undergraduate. RBS continually extended my overdraft credit limit until i was paying them £80-£90 a month in interest. A friend recommended Stepchange to me and they've been brilliant. They were patient, non-judgemental, imformative and reassuring. They helped me set up a DMP so that I was able to start paying off the debt at a rate i could afford instead of struggling to keep on top of the interest payments. When RBS sold my debt they dealt with the new debt recovery company and ensured a smooth transition. I love that they keep me up-to-date with a monthly statement and helpful budgeting advice e-newsletters. I'd recommend them to anyone struggling with debt. They take the awful stress and pressure off financially, mentally and emotionally. Its like having a really good friend in your corner. Reviewed on: 28th July 2022
