Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I honestly thought there was no way out of the situation I was in I was down and depressed and stressed , until a friend recommended step change . A life line to carry on

I had buried my head in the sand thinking no one would help me. I was about to make the biggest mistake of my life which would have added to my misery then I had a light bulb moment where I turned to Stepchange for help. They listened to me without judgement and helped me realise that I didn't have a realistic budget to start with in order to make my finances work for me and my debts.
