Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Stressed and embarrassed...

When my wife got breast cancer we lost her income for over a year and the debts just spiraled out of control. The stress was unbelievable and I felt embarrassed about our situation. First class.

I contacted Stepchange, about 10 years ago, after the usual bombardment of phone calls and messages. This stopped almost immediately, and a management plan was put in place. Contacting Stepchange saved my sanity after I was scammed and lost my money. They were helpful and understanding, cast no judgment. I can honestly say Stepchange turned my life around...

I can honestly say Stepchange turned my life around for the posotive,i wasgetting to a stage financially where i just could not see a way out. I was using one credit card to pay another in a constant loop of debt. from the very first phone call to stepchange everything turned around,they where so patient and helpull as well as understanding i felt i was finally going to solve my problem. It wasnt always easy i live off my pension and pip so money has been tight but they where always there with practical advise and help one month we had a storm where i live and damge was done to my property that had to be paid for and Stepchange allowed me to miss a payment to pay for repairs thankfully it was the only payment missed now my plan is finnished all my debts are clear one side effect of the plan is that for 4 years i learned to live within my means no cards no overdraft no HP (little secret i even managed to save a bit) i truly am gratefull to them. It took debtsDi’s Journey but StepChan...

It took me 8 years to clear my debts but StepChange were absolutely wonderful throughout my ‘journey’ .....absolutely EVERY SINGLE PERSON at STEPCHANGE were just brilliant and so VERY patient. I CANNOT but recommend them HIGHLY enough!!!!!! Reviewed on: 24th May 2025
