Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Six Star Rating, in my opinion!!

I'm reviewing on behalf of my 89 year old father who got into financial difficulties a few years ago, at which time, Step Change were recommended to us. From the very first phone call it immediately felt that they were working for us and had our interests at the forefront, rather than a giant corporate bank. They took us through the process and together we built my fathers plan based on incomings/outgoings. Using their experience they raised questions regarding dads expediture for items not shown on bank statements or infrequent purchases. The outcome was a proposed plan to reduce his debt over time but wasn't going to leave him in difficulties that may lead to further debt, Once we finalised that, Step Change took over and negotiated directly with those organisations who he was indebted to. We were notified that the plan had been agreed and then we simply created a Direct Debit to Step Change for the agreed monthly payment. Beyond that all we have done is annually review the plan to update incomings/outgoings to and refine payments as required. Step Change have been an unbelievable help to my father and I, especially as I manage his finances but live quite some distance away, Thank you Step Change Reviewed on: 10th June 2025

caused so much stress

Great support

It took us 4 years to clear our debt but with the support of Step Change and their staff it all went very smoothly and it took the anxiety and stress out of the process. It was difficult at times and when we had a blip the staff at Step Change guided us through it. It was such a great feeling to see our debt clear. We now have the confidence to go forward.
