Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

A great company with friendly staff.

When you are in financial 'mess', StepChange helped us out of it with no judgement, just straightforward questions to give you the best advice. And they go through all your debts, followed by your income and expenditure to give your creditors a fair and affordable solution. They also contact your creditors to try and stop any further interest being added. We've been with them for several years and find them great and friendly. Thank you StepChange. Fantastic

I was initially overwhelmed by the process but overall it was so smooth, the agent I spoke to and the online processe were both easy and considerate given the emotional distress involved in managing debt. Thank you for what you do, relieving the burden and easing distress. If I ever become a millionaire I will surely make a donation to stepChange. You really change lives for the better. Make the call, you will not look back!

Autism and discalculia together with lockdown and losing employment left me unable to keep control of my finances. Stepchange staff were incredibly helpful in patiently dealing with me until there was a plan in place.
