Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Life saver

They are the people to go to when you’re losing cont...

They are the people to go to when you’re losing control of your finances. The process was easy and they dealt with everything. I made my payment each month for four years and watched the balances go down bit by bit until they were clear. Along the way I learned to live within my means and have now started to save the money I used to pay them every month. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Life Savers

I had never been in debt until I finished work and my income was my pension. I became overwhelmed with my situation and absolutely did not know where to turn. My mental health was badly impacted by the situation. Stepchange was suggested to me. I contacted them and recieved non judgemental support with several options explained to me. There was a period of " breathing space" which did enable me to breathe for the first time in months. A programme was agreed and the StepChange contacted the companies involved and obtained a payment plan. It took me 3 years to clear my debts and StepChange supported me throughout.
